We all knew this day would come and now it is here. I was going through today's email and came across notification from one of my distributors that this week is last call for ordering Windows XP.
So, if you have been putting off getting a new computer, but you absolutely have to have Windows XP, do not delay. It is highly unlikely that this will still be an option in September, and Windows 7 will not quite be available then.
Of course, you can now purchase Windows Vista with upgrade rights to Windows 7, but that is extra effort that you might want to avoid.
And if you think that you have application software that will not work properly in Vista, it will probably not work in Windows 7 either. If you think you will need to upgrade your workstations in the near future, you might want to start talking to your software providers now to find out what you will need to do for your software to work properly.
If you have a technology company that you work with regularly, they should be able to help you figure out if your software will work, and assist you with any necessary testing.
