Public Relations and Communications Firm Plans for Uptime

Before Byrum & Fisk Advocacy Communications even opened their doors, partners Mark Fisk and Dianne Byrum were already thinking about growth and the unique round the clock demands of their industry. While they could have started their business with just a few workstations, they contacted KI Technology Group early on and made plans for a server and the first workstations.
In the early days, the firm relied on an on-demand service model. When a problem came up, they called for service and the team at KI responded. As activity increased in the months leading up to the 2008 elections, the team at Byrum & Fisk realized that they didn’t have time to deal with technology issues, and that they could not tolerate any amount of downtime.

So they implemented the KI Total Technology Protection Premium Plan. Under this plan, the team at KI is constantly monitoring the network for issues that could turn into problems. Adjustments are made before the problems escalate into downtime which could mean a loss of critical business functions.
Most issues can be resolved remotely, but KI also comes on-site once each month to perform a series of physical checks and make sure that everything is functioning just as it should be. Users also keep a list of non-critical issues that are addressed during these monthly visits.
Byrum & Fisk also takes advantage of KI’s Enterprise Remote Backup service which insures that data is backed up offsite every night. In the event of a server failure, the backup device is capable of functioning as a temporary server. This provides additional insurance against unexpected downtime.
“Not only do they take care of problems, but they have also educated us to do some basis troubleshooting on routine issues,” Fisk said of KI’s service. “If they have a concern about our system, they call us to discuss it without waiting for a problem to happen. In addition, they proactively suggest ways that we might use technology to better serve our clients. And we get regular reports that detail all of the work done on our behalf.”
